Privacy Policy

A parent or guardian is required to create, manage, and use the Studio account. A student may participate in project work with that adult’s supervision. An educator may help with the project but does not replace the required parent or guardian user.

The Studio does not ask students to enter their names, email addresses, telephone numbers, home addresses, dates of birth, school names, or other direct identifying information into their projects. Projects are identified by an assigned Project ID rather than a student’s name.

The parent or guardian must review project titles, written responses, tables, photographs, and presentations to make sure they do not contain personal or identifying information. A Project ID does not make information anonymous if identifying details are entered elsewhere in the project.

Observation photos may show only project materials, experiment setups, and results. Photos containing children or adults, including their faces, are not allowed. Users must also not upload photos showing names, school information, addresses, personal documents, license plates, screens displaying personal information, or other identifying details.

The Studio does not request or intend to collect photos of people. If we learn that prohibited identifying content has been uploaded, we may remove it and take reasonable steps to delete it from our systems. A parent or guardian who finds such content in a project should contact us promptly.

We use information as needed to:

• Create and maintain parent or guardian accounts and provide secure access
• Assign Project IDs and save project work
• Provide project-building, presentation, timeline, export, and submission features
• Provide grammar-related suggestions through Grammar Check
• Review submitted projects and communicate with parent or guardian account holders about review or requested changes
• Respond to support and privacy requests
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and protect the Studio
• Comply with applicable legal obligations and address misuse or security concerns

We do not sell or rent account information or student project content. We do not use student project content for behavioral advertising.

Grammar Check is available only in the Guided Project path. It reviews student-entered text for possible grammar errors. It is not intended to create the student’s project or replace the student’s own ideas, observations, reasoning, or learning.

When Grammar Check is used, the selected text may be processed by a service provider to return suggestions. Suggestions may be incorrect or incomplete. The parent or guardian should review suggestions with the student and use only changes that preserve the student’s own ideas and meaning.

The parent or guardian is responsible for reviewing the completed project and selecting Submit for Science Fair Review. After submission, the project may be accessed by authorized science fair organizers, administrators, committee members, and reviewers as needed to review safety and eligibility, request changes, prepare for judging, and administer the event. Authorized Studio personnel or service providers may also access information when necessary for support, security, or platform operations.

Submission through the Studio does not guarantee that a project will be approved or accepted into a science fair. The parent or guardian should check the presentation before submission to make sure it contains no personal identifying information.

Nueces Innovation StoryWorks, LLC operates the Studio. It is separate from Nueces Innovation Labs, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

When the Studio is used for a science fair administered by Nueces Innovation Labs, authorized representatives and approved reviewers may receive access to submitted project materials for science fair purposes.

Nueces Innovation Labs may collect registration, consent, and event information through separate forms completed by a parent or guardian. Those forms are outside the Studio. Parents and guardians should review the privacy information presented with those forms and by the form provider.

We may use providers that support application hosting, storage, authentication, email delivery, security, technical support, and Grammar Check. They may process information needed to provide those services on our behalf.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; investigate misuse or security incidents; protect users and the Studio; enforce applicable terms; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Information may also be transferred as part of a business transaction, subject to applicable requirements and protections.

We do not make student projects publicly available through the Studio as part of ordinary project creation or submission.

The Studio requires a parent or guardian to create, manage, and use the account on behalf of the student. Students may contribute to project work with that adult’s supervision but may not independently create or use a Studio account. An educator may assist with the project but does not replace the parent or guardian’s required role.

The project workspace does not request a student’s name or contact information, and photos of people are prohibited. A parent or guardian must supervise the student’s use of the Studio, approve the information the student enters, and review the project before it is exported or submitted.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child’s personal information was entered or uploaded, they may contact us at support@nuecesstoryworks.com to request review or removal.

We retain account information and project content for as long as reasonably needed to operate the Studio, preserve work in an active account, administer an associated science fair, provide support, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.

A parent or guardian account holder may request deletion of their account or project content using the contact information below. Some information may remain for a limited time in backups or be retained where reasonably necessary for legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect account information and project content. These may include authentication, restricted administrative access, secure transmission and storage, and security maintenance. No online service can guarantee complete security.

Parent and guardian account holders should protect their login credentials and notify us if they suspect unauthorized access.

A parent or guardian account holder may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with their account or project. They may also request account closure or ask questions about further collection or use. We may need to verify the requester’s identity and authority over the account before responding. Some requests may be subject to applicable legal or security requirements.

The Studio may use cookies or similar technologies for login, security, saved preferences, and essential operation. Disabling them may prevent parts of the Studio from working.

The Studio may link to external forms, websites, or resources. Information provided directly to an external service is governed by that service’s applicable privacy notice and terms.

Nueces Innovation Studio™ is a beta educational tool for use by a parent or guardian with a student. It does not replace adult supervision, applicable science fair rules, safety requirements, or project approval.

The parent or guardian should review project information for accuracy, safety, completeness, and compliance before submitting it. Grammar Check may make mistakes, and the final work should reflect the student’s own ideas and learning.

We may update this policy as the Studio or its information practices change. We will revise the “Last Updated” date when we do so. If a change materially affects how information is collected, used, or shared, we may provide additional notice to parent or guardian account holders as appropriate.
